Terry
Meeuwsen brings a diverse portfolio to the set of The 700
Club.
Her background
as a singer, broadcaster, Miss America and working mother
makes her equally adept at either interviewing a Hollywood
celebrity or working with kids on The Christian Broadcasting
Network's (CBN) "Summer Kids Club" television
show.
Meeuwsen has been
a familiar face on The 700 Club since the early 1980s, appearing
on the program many times as a guest co-host.
In June 1993 she became a permanent co-host, joining Pat
Robertson on the program, which is broadcast daily from
the CBN studios in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
A
native of Wisconsin, Meeuwsen grew up with dreams of becoming
an actress and singer. After attending St. Norbert College,
she moved to Los Angeles and joined the New Christy Minstrels.
Her two-year tour with the group included seven recordings,
international travel and appearances on major television
talk and variety shows.
In 1973 Terry
Meeuwsen was crowned Miss America. After spending a year
fulfilling her duties in that role, she returned to studying
acting and singing.
In 1978 Meeuwsen
began co-hosting a daily talk show in Milwaukee called "A
New Day" at NBC affiliate WTMJ-TV. During her tenure
at the station, Meeuwsen served as director of special projects,
producing news documentaries that tackled a range of topics
such as drunk driving and working mothers. In 1986 she left
her successful career to devote more time to her growing
family.
In
July 1995 Meeuwsen released her debut recording, Eyes of
My Heart. The Bible verse Ephesians 1:18 reflects the message
of her album: "I pray also that the eyes of your heart
may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to
which He has called you...."
Meeuwsen is the
author of Christmas Memories: From Our Hearts to Yours (1996),
Near to the Heart of God, a devotional book for women (1998)
and Just Between Friends, a collection of stories about
women (1999) all from Thomas Nelson Publishing.
Meeuwsen and her
husband, Andy, have seven children.
